Let’s Go Glamping: Opening Up Teybrook Orchard for the Spring Event Season
The sun is beginning to make an appearance, fresh flowers are starting to bloom, and the temperature is slowly rising. This can only mean one thing… spring is just around the corner! Our Teybrook Orchard glamping and events site is open from March until October, and so we’re gearing up to reopen the site for 2023. We can’t wait to welcome faces old and new to Browning Bros. this year!
Setting Up Teybrook Orchard for the 2023 Season
Teybrook Orchard is a wonderfully secluded spot, tucked away between an apple orchard and 20 acres of woodland. In order to make sure visitors can enjoy the acres of space to roam free and make the most of their retreat, we begin the reopening process by clearing away the woodland and cutting back some of our shrubs/trees which have grown over the winter… basically, a lot of landscaping!
Our magical glampsite is home to four, 16 foot, traditionally crafted yurts located in the meadow at the very centre of the site. As well as the yurts, the orchard also boasts four bell tents hidden by trees and grassy glades, making for the perfect peaceful retreat.
As we prepare the site for reopening, we need to fully reinstall all yurts and bell tents which have been stored/cleaned over winter. This involves a lot of manual labour and a team to reinstall each one, from prepping the tent base to installing the centre poles and doors and building the roofs. Not an easy job, but it’s great to be outside!
Fun fact: all of our bell tents and yurts are named after The Jungle Book and The Lion King characters!
Our most romantic getaway, or our single occupancy accommodation choice is definitely the grain silo, tucked away in the woods at the back of the site. Once upon a time, this structure was used to store grain on the farm following the annual harvest in August. We also have the shepherd’s hut, which sits in the far right corner of the meadow under an oak tree, and was bought by our great grandfather sixty years ago. These both get a good spring cleaning ahead of new visitors coming to stay. In addition, we will be introducing a new couples’ dwelling this year and will be announcing it soon! It’s pretty damn cool, too!
A luxury glamping experience at Browning Bros includes access to lots of different communal areas, providing you with everything you could possibly need during your stay. Our on-site kitchen is fully equipped with fridges, a freezer, gas ovens and hobs, toaster, kettle, pots and pans, glassware, mugs and cutlery. There is also a wood-fired pizza oven if you fancy a pizza night! Our contemporary wash house boasts a modern toilet and shower building (4 showers, 4 toilets), and there is even a wood-fired hot tub available for guests to hire in the woodland. Plus, a large on-site marquee and stretch tent provide additional undercover spaces for the unpredictable British weather. All these areas get a full spring clean in preparation for each new season.
