Our Top 5 Trend Predictions for Outdoor Weddings in 2023

Now that May is almost over and we’ll soon be approaching June, we can truly say that 2023’s wedding season is well underway. We can’t wait to welcome lots of happy couples to Browning Bros. this year as they walk down the aisle and say, “I do”. In the meantime, we thought we’d take a look at predictions for styles, trends and décor for outdoor weddings this year. Keep reading to find out what’s in store…

Destination Weddings

No surprises here, but we love this one! Having a destination wedding doesn’t necessarily mean you have to leave the country. It’s so easy to find a peaceful part of the English countryside to gather your nearest and dearest for a unique, outdoor wedding experience.

Here at Browning Bros., we have two stunning outdoor wedding venues where ceremonies take place against an enchanting woodland backdrop, and guests can take gorgeous golden hour photos to capture a day they’ll never forget.

Teybrook Orchard is our secluded, magical venue hidden away amongst 20 acres of woodland, perfect for quirky, intimate weddings with up to 120 guests. The 60ft x 30ft marquee boasts wooden flooring, dining tables, chairs and benches, a wooden dance floor, sound system, and quirky festoon lighting. There are 10 fabulous glamping pods spaced out across the venue, providing on-site accommodation for up to 40 of your guests.

For larger wedding parties, our Chalkney Water Meadows venue is the perfect waterside location. Nestled within a water meadow amongst ancient woodland and a beautiful tree-lined lake, ceremonies take place on the lovely willow tree pontoon, with later celebrations held in our giant tipis which seat up to 150 guests. 20 luxurious bell tents are available for up to 50 guests who want to stay overnight on-site, in addition to two lakeside cabins a short walk away.

Embracing Colour

An eccentric idea for a vibrant outdoor wedding is adding bright, eye-catching colours all around you. This could be achieved in so many different ways, such as with a beautiful outdoor wedding arch (you could even hand-paint it if you want to take a DIY approach) or lively floral arrangements used as décor or carried by bridesmaids.

Everybody loves to sink their teeth into some scrummy food, especially after a full-on day, so having a funky food truck (or two… or three!) is another brilliant way to brighten up the colour palette of your outdoor wedding.

There are so many places to add pops of colour: table napkins, name cards, signature cocktails, wedding favours… the possibilities are endless!

Intimate Ceremonies

Whilst some people might want a lavish, big, white wedding with large numbers of guests; smaller, intimate weddings are currently very on-trend. Keeping the daytime private and lower key can help to mitigate some of the anxiety that comes with a wedding day and helps to protect the intimacy of the ceremony. Of course, you can always invite more guests to the evening reception or keep it as a quiet affair all night long. At Browning Bros., our Teybrook Orchard is the ideal venue for intimate weddings!

DIY Details

One of the biggest trends of recent times is wedding hosts embracing a do-it-yourself vibe – a great way of making sure your wedding is sustainable and keeping costs down! It’s so easy to arrange your own bouquets, weave flower crowns, write out wedding signs and seating charts, and adorn the outdoor venue with macrame décor. You could even have birdseed confetti if you like! The world is your oyster.

Exciting Menu Choices

In recent times, more and more couples have been choosing adventurous catering choices for their outdoor weddings, instead of the traditional sit-down three-course meal (however we do still host lots of weddings with this too!).

We have hand selected a list of fantastic suppliers who can provide outdoor weddings at Browning Bros. with festival food trucks or formal wedding breakfasts to suit whatever your vibe is! Some of our favourites are Trott & Whinny, who offer a range of gourmet burgers and fries, wood-fired pizza from Cacciatores Pizza, vintage ice cream from Molly Moo’s Vintage Van, and feasts made from local produce with Blackwells Farm Shop.
